Curriculum of the Department of Electronics Convergence Engineering
The programs of Electronics Convergence Engineering(hereinafter referred to as "Program") will be carried out from March 1st, 2016, according to the standards of engineering accreditation system focused on cyclic and autonomous-type improvement model, which was suggested by the ABEEK.
In order to train professionals who possess the many-sided abilities, the "Program" has set up 13 kinds of learning targets the students shall achieve at the time of graduation, which include the design ability that utilizes basic knowledge, practical job skills, knowledge related to the current technical level, teamwork participation and communication ability, and so on. The educational contents and objectives of each subject focus on the achievement of the 13 learning targets, and the achievement will be evaluated by using many assessment tools. Especially, the department has built up a flexible education system in which the objectives, learning targets, and the curriculum may be modified periodically, based on the reflection of opinions presented by the members from industries, research centers, graduates and currently enrolled students. In order to ensure smooth operation of the program, the Program Committee, Curriculum Committee, Evaluation Committee, Academic-industrial Advisory Committee, and the Data Processing, Experiment and Practical Training Committee have been established inside the department.

Composition of Curriculum
1) 6 subjects for basic knowledge focused on the qualifications foreign language skill, communication ability, teamwork participation and leadership which engineering students must be equipped with.
2) 12 basic subjects for major, including mathematics, basic science, and electronic data processing
3) The department has provided 30 major-oriented subjects. The special feature of curriculum composition is that the curriculum is focused on enhancement of design ability. From the introduction of engineering design in the first year to the Capstone Design 1 and 2 in the 4th year, the students are encouraged to earn 27 credits in total as the portion of design in experimental and theoretical subjects has been increased other than the design-oriented subjects.
Information about subjects to be completed and credits
(1) Graduation Requirements for the Bachelor's Degree
- It is required to earn more than 140 credits, including 30 credits liberal arts(including required subjects), and 45 credits in major subjects(including required major subjects).
- Required for Liberal Arts: Reading and writing of English, English conversation, College Mathematics and Exercise 1 College Mathematics and Exercise 2, Introduction of Engineering Design
- Required for Major : Basic Electronic circuit Lab 1 & 2, Microelectronic Circuits Lab 1 & 2
- The graduation requirement concerning English Language complies with the certification standards of the College of Electronics and Information Engineering.

(2) Engineering Accreditation Requirements for Electronic Convergence Engineering Programs
In order to obtain the engineering accreditation for Electronic Convergence Engineering Programs, the students shall acquire the certification of major course and English simultaneously. In order to get the major course completion certification, the students must obtain 108 credits marked as RC(Required for Certification) in the curriculum, which include Basic Knowledge(18), Basic Science(30), Major Theory and Design(36). And more than 33 credits from other subjects marked as EC(Elective for Certification), including the subjects established by other departments, shall be added to the number of credits in order to get 140 credits in total, which meets the graduationrequirement. However, the number of credits in design subjects among major course shall be over 18.
Industrial Track Agreement with Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd

(1)The main contents of the 2nd Samsung Electronics-related Major Track are as follows.
- One hundred million won of operating expenses will be paid every year.
- 13 subjects related to Track Completion(10 core subjects + 3 elective subjects) will be designated, and the core and elective subjects are as follows.

- The cut line of SSAT will be separately applied to the students who is taking (will take ) Track.
- A maximum of 5 students can be recommended as scholarship holders of Samsung Electronics-related Major Track by our department
(3rd grader; To the excellent students among the students who have taken the internship during winter vacation.)
(4th grader; A student taking Track Course will be paid 10 million won of scholarship during the year of enrollment)
- The scholarship holders based on Samsung Electronics-related Major Track have no advantage in entering a graduate course.
* When going on to a graduate school, the scholarship shall be refunded(principal only, excluding interests). It can be resumed after graduation for the graduate school.

(2) The internal regulations concerning Samsung Electronics-related Major Track completion are as follows.
Article 1 [Purpose]
¨ç This internal regulation is aimed at regulating the matters related to the operation of Samsung Electronics-related Track Programs, which is based on the agreement between Kwangwoon University and Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd.(hereinafter referred to as Samsung Electronics).

Article 2 [Operation of Samsung Electronics-related Track Programs]
¨ç Based on the agreement with Samsung Electronics, Samsung Electronics-related Track Operating Committee will be organized, which consists of the members from departments operating Samsung Electronics-related Track Programs.
¨è In principle, the ex officio chairman is the dean of the college the relevant departments belong to, and the members of the committee consist of department heads. In case a head of department cannot join the committee as a member, other professor in the department may replace.
¨é In order to ensure smooth operation of the programs, the committee may appoint one assistant administrator and a supplementary member for administration.
¨ê The department of Electronics and Communication Engineering shall establish and operate Samsung Electronics-related Track Programs,

Article 3 [Completion Requirements of Samsung Electronics-related Track Programs in the Department of Electronics Convergence Engineering]
¨ç The completion requirements of Samsung Electronics-related Track Programs are following items.
- In order to complete Samsung Electronics-related Track Programs, the basis weight average score of the 10 core subjects and 3 elective subjects presented in [Annexed Table 1] shall be higher than 3.5(perfect score is 4.5). The basis weight average is calculated by dividing the aggregate, which is obtained by multiplying the sum of credits of each subject and the average score of all subjects, by the total of credits obtained by adding the credits of each subject together.

Article 4 [Internal Regulations of registration for courses]
¨ç In order to get the completion certification of Samsung Electronics-related Track Programs, the students shall complete the 10 core and 3 elective subjects established by the department

Article 5 [Certification Method of Samsung Electronics-related Track Program Completion]
¨ç The completion certificate will be issued to a student who has submitted the annexed application form of Samsung Electronics-related Track Program within the time limit for application, along with the transcripts, after verification.
¨è The members of Samsung Electronics-related Track Operating Committee will decide whether the student has completed the program or not. Only the student, who has no problem concerning the completion according to the verification, may submit the above mentioned application and transcript to the operating committee, so that the operating committee will confirm the certification after verification, if there is no further problem.
¨é The chairman of operating committee will issue the completion certificate of Samsung Electronics-related Track Programs, of which the form is Annex 5, to the student who has acquired the approval of certification based on the completion of Samsung Electronics-related Track Programs in the Department of Electronics Convergence Engineering.

Article 6 [Establishment · Amendment Procedure of Internal Regulations of Samsung Electronics-related Track Program]
The establishment and amendment of Internal Regulations of Samsung Electronics-related Track Program in the Department of Electronics Convergence Engineering complies with the decision of the operating committee. And Internal Regulations will be put into practice after reviewing in the committee and obtaining the approval of the chairman.
- Clause 1 (Enforcement date) This Internal Regulation is put into effect on March 1s, 2011.
- Clause 2 (Transitional provision) This Internal Regulation is put into effect on March 1s, 2011.
